Here are a few of the most often recommended Emergency Supplies:
- Water - You need to have a minimum of one gallon of water per person, per day. This is the top item for a reason! Never get caught with an insufficient supply of water.
- Food - You must have at least a 3 day supply of non perishable food. Canned food is sealed and lasts really well. Stay away from paper packaged food items.
- Radio - We would recommend carrying a hand crank radio capable of receiving weather and emergency bands.
- Flashlight - Carry an extra set of batteries or invest in a hand crank rechargeable.
- Whistle - A whistle can help you to signal for help, even when severe injuries have been suffered.
- Sanitation Supplies - Plastic bags and hand towlettes can come in handy!
- Tools - In an emergency, you may need a wrench or pliers to turn off your utilities! You may also need a can opener if your food requires it.
- Maps - Local maps and plans to leave in multiple directions can save your life.
We recommend to all: Make sure that you have all the necessary emergency supplies. It is fairly inexpensive and can save the lives of precious family members and friends.
