Camp Gear Direct is a family owned business
with two eagle scout sons who help run the website, and a former scout
master who enjoys finding great outdoor gear and supplies.
Being in the outdoors always helps us slow down and enjoy life. But,
many of us may one day be subject to mother nature at times when we
are ill prepared to do so. We provide the tools to do both
right...camp and be prepared. And so our story begins...The Great
Ice Storm.
A few years ago we had a very severe ice storm in our home town of
Lexington, Kentucky. People were without power for many days, and, in
some cases, weeks. Water, shelter, food, heat, lighting and outdoor
tools, were in great demand. Stores were emptied of these items. It
wasn't long before we realized how lucky we were...our camp stove,
sleeping bags, water filtration and other outdoor gear helped get us
through it. In other words, our camping supplies, which we used to
enjoy the outdoors, were also a great help when being outdoors wasn't
so fun!
Our mission: Camp Gear Direct exists to promote wholesome
recreation in the outdoors, and to help people prepare against times
or seasons when being outdoors is not so great. We work to provide
quality and dependable camp and emergency gear at a good value and
work to become a continuing long term resource to our clients and
friends.
When natural disasters or severe weather threaten, good outdoor
equipment is invaluable. So... whether you choose to enjoy the
outdoors using our gear, or find yourself wondering what you need to
be prepared in an emergency, we have the gear to help.
